The line follows the River Soar in the east, then runs along the centre of Linkfield Road and Cross Lane until it reaches Walton Way. Then along the centre of the top end of Walton Way, turning east along Halstead Road, and back south to include the homes at the top of Swithland Lane.

The parish includes the homes west of the top end of Walton Way, such as in Carisbrooke Road and Montsoreau Way. The homes between Cross Lane and Walton Way such as in Cloud Lea and nos. 68-79 Castle Road, are also included.

On the east side, the development based on Rowe Leys Furlong is included, along with Pott Acre & Marl Fields, as are the developments based on Kiln Garth and Whatton Oaks.

Rothley has a modern village boundary, which can be seen on up-to-date maps. The church parish boundary is slightly different, has a very long history, and was recently changed in 2000 to make it easier to follow. Some of the houses in the church parish boundary bear a Mountsorrel postal address. The map below and the description sets out to help the reader see if they live in the church parish.
