Generally speaking we are fairly strict about the parish boundary and refer enquiries from families living outside the parish to their own local church unless they have existing links with us.
The Vicar or Curate makes an initial visit to the family to discuss with them the meaning of baptism and then offers them the opportunity to meet one of our visiting teams. Generally this offer is taken up. We encourage them to come to the monthly Stepping Stones service which is informal and child-friendly. Following the initial visit by the clergy, three visits are made by the specially appointed baptism visitors. After these three sessions, the clergy make a final visit to make the necessary arrangements.

Baptism is the true route into the Christian faith. Jesus himself was baptised in the River Jordan by the prophet John. Baptism in the parish church is open to people of all ages, and we welcome enquiries.
Most such enquiries come from the parents of newly born children who live in the ecclesiastical parish of Rothley. Our usual practice is to set baptism within the Stepping Stones Service on the first Sunday of the month at 10.30am. This is a very warm and friendly event with all the children staying for the whole service.
